2025 Gift Guide
Every few years I put out a gift guide because at this point in the season or maybe it's in my life, I am an adult with adult money. Also nearly all my kids are out of the house. (But I'm not willing to give up my minivan yet. Mine's almost 20 years old!) So it's harder to buy for them because I don't see them every day. But here's what I'm thinking of getting them for Christmas. (Mostly 20 bucks or less.)
Husband: I bought him a towel warmer. Our bathroom faces northward it never seems to get warm. I like that this one is collapsable for storage in the summer. I would love to put socks in here too or pants before wearing them so that you can get the out-of-the-dryer feel every day.
I usually get him tickets to a local performance as he loves music. Japanese-insipried things like chopsticks or t-shirts since he lived there for two years and still speaks Japanese.
Anime-inspired stuff since it's becoming more mainstream is easier to find. Here's a link to Apothecary Diaries Bag on Amazon that I drooled over. And this bag that made me laugh. IYKYK.
Daughter married, (22): Homemade wax wraps. Her husband is really into zero waste. Wax wraps are a fun and colorful way to store food without using plastic and adding to our landfills. I already had a ton of fabric left over from quilting so making them myself on a Sunday night while talking with family felt like a labor of love. However, if you'd like to buy them for about $13 and save the time, here's a link to some I found on Amazon.
I also bought her a pair of Loop earplugs, for concerts and other loud venues where she still wants to hear the music but doesn't want to damage her hearing. I might have gotten myself a pair for sleeping, too. I love that they don't rub the inside of my ears or give me blisters. I also love that they don't make inner-ear noise like my last pair that was sometimes louder than outside noise. 10 out of 10 would recommend!
Even though it's the wrong season, I picked up a misting fan on the after-season sale. I love that this one is battery operated and can be put on a solid surface for hands-free. She lives in a dry climate and needs to have air blowing, but the mist just adds a little moisture to the air. I will likely use something like this if I decide to do pop-up vendor shows in the summer or even spring.
I also bought a phone lanyard that she uses while walking around campus. But I couldn't wait until Christmas and gave it to her for her birthday instead.
Next on my list is my son:
Son #1 freshman at college (19): He's a tough one to buy for because he's so particular. But I got him a few washable ties because I've seen a few of his silk ones get ruined in the washing machine. He loves the color orange so I found a few that I think he'd like.
Like my husband, I could buy him or my daughter anything from the Apothecary Diaries Merch like this sweatshirt or his favorite one, My Hero Academia books or something from that world.
He also loves Magic The Gathering. So I might get him this play mat because it's orange and has a cool dragon. He's begging for cards, but I don't know that I want to spend that much on a single card. We'll see.
Son #2 sophomore in high school (15): he would go for ANYTHING Magic The Gathering related, but is really pining for a certain card that I am not willing to spend money on. He loves Lord of The Rings though so almost anything related to that would please him. I was contemplating the Hobbit Extended Edition. And since it hits my price point of being under $15 bucks, I'll probably get that for him.
He is in desperate need of clothing though. This 15yo is growing like a weed after a rainstorm. I am constantly buying new shoes and pants.
If you have younger kids, anything that helps them is and focus on something for a long time will help counterbalance the constant stream of information being pushed on the computer/social media.
I always recommend these book series:
Middle Grade Fiction
Tintin graphic novels (the exact version I own and that my boys loved to read)
Fablehaven (It's getting a movie soon!)
Good luck!
