RIP Borders
My favorite book store is going out of business. It's depressing to see the shelves empty, not that selling books is bad, but the fact that they are not restocking them. It's like a part of me is dying. I have so many memories of chasing the kids around while trying to read the inside cover of a book. Does clearing out the bookstores make way for digital books? Personally, I'm not a fan. I like the smell and feel of real books. Is the end of bookstores? Is it the end of books? You tell me. Maybe I'm a Luddite, but I'm hoping books are not going away anytime soon.
Sigh. We went to borders last night. It's sad. I like to believe this is not the end of books, I've used a kindle once, it is unsatisfying. Fine for playing scrabble on but not for reading! Maybe I'll just have to start hoarding books!
ReplyDeleteI don't get it! I've been to Borders plenty of times over the last year! I love holding books.
ReplyDeleteAnd Barnes and Noble is a little pricey, they don't carry a lot of inventory. But I can see why Amazon is winning the book war. I don't think it's the end of books, it may be the end of physical books stores. Yet, it seems that the indy shops are doing fine. Who knows.
